The state’s pathetic attention to health

The state’s pathetic attention to health care over the years is featured in this month’s edition of “State Legislatures” magazine. To wit: “The problem is access to health care. Even before the crisis, Nevada paid poorly and offered among the fewest optimal services in the nation.” Yes, nation, that’s Nevada. The piece highlights Nevada as a state horrifically affected by Medicaid cuts, with plaintive quotes from state Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford and Assemblywoman Sheila Leslie. It also points out the draconian cuts in the administration’s budget, with Horsford saying they go too far. He and Leslie also outlined a detailed and thoughtful tax plan to fix the deep Medicaid cuts. OK, I made that last part up.
