Road rage blamed in pedestrian’s death

A 22-year-old man has died as the result of a traffic accident in what a Las Vegas Metro spokesman is calling a road-rage incident. Authorities have classified the death as a homicide.

At about 10:36 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a report of an automobile accident involving a pedestrian in the 3900 block of E. Cheyenne Ave., where investigators allege the incident was intentional.

The victim was transported to University Medical Center for treatment. He died Saturday as a result of his injuries, police said on Sunday.

The homicide section has assumed the investigation of this incident.

The suspect was described by witnesses to be a black man in his mid-30s with short, black hair, driving what was described as a gray Ford Focus or a similar compact car. It is possible the vehicle might have damage to the front end or to the front driver's side as a result of the incident, police said.

Anyone with information is urged to call either the the homicide section of Metro at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555, where a reward might be offered.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of family by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
