LV man killed in Henderson collision identified

A 41-year-old Las Vegas man killed in a traffic collision in Henderson on Thursday has been identified.

The Clark County Coroner's Office said Michael Davis died of several skull fractures after the crash at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Henderson police officers said the collision occurred at the intersection of Stephanie Street and Russell Road.

A Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Davis was traveling east on Russell approaching Stephanie as a white Pontiac sedan heading west was stopped at Russell Road, preparing to turn southbound on Stephanie, police said.

The pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the red traffic signal, colliding with the Pontiac, police said.

Davis was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He was not wearing a seatbelt, police believe.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor, police said. This is the seventh traffic fatality in Henderson this year.
