Police still looking for suspect in road-rage death

Metro Police are looking for a suspect in the death of a 22-year-old man who died as the result of a traffic collision in what police are calling a road-rage incident.

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the pedestrian who was killed as Juan Mejia-Hernandez of North Las Vegas. The coroner ruled the death a homicide from several blunt force injuries from a collision with a motor vehicle, a spokeswoman said.

About 10:36 p.m. Wednesday, officers arrived at an automobile collision involving a pedestrian in the 3900 block of E. Cheyenne Ave., and investigators allege the incident was intentional.

The victim was taken to University Medical Center for treatment. He died Sunday as a result of his injuries, police said. The Metro homicide section is investigating.

The suspect was described by witnesses as a black man in his mid-30s with short, black hair, driving what was described as a gray Ford Focus or a similar compact car. It is possible the vehicle might have damage to the front end or to the front driver's side as a result of the collision, police said.

Anyone with information is urged to call either the homicide section of Metro at (702) 828-3521, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555. A cash reward might be offered to anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
