Child abuse arrest

A 51-year-old North Las Vegas woman and her 16-year-old son were arrested today on charges of child abuse, the North Las Vegas Police Department said.

North Las Vegas Police arrested foster mother Deborah Hill and booked her into the North Las Vegas Detention Center on four felony counts of child abuse. At the same time, her son also was arrested and booked at the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center on child abuse charges related to the case.

North Las Vegas Police child abuse detectives received a report from Child Protective Services on April 6 of a case of suspected child abuse involving a 3-month-old girl and her 8-year-old brother.

The children were in foster care in a home in the 3700 block of Thomas Patrick Avenue from April 1 to April 6, police said.

The preliminary investigation indicated that both children suffered injuries that were consistent with child abuse, said North Las Vegas Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon.

Anyone with any information regarding this or any crime in or around North Las Vegas is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
