Woman, 21, who died in I-15 crash identified

A 21-year-old Michigan woman who died as she was riding in the back of a sport utility vehicle traveling southbound on Interstate 15 when it crashed has been identified.

The Clark County Coroner's Office said Ashley Nicole Krieger was the victim of the crash after the black Ford Explorer SUV overturned about 20 miles north of Las Vegas.

The crash occurred at about 3:10 a.m. Wednesday as the woman, her 23-year-old husband and infant son were heading to Lompoc, Calif., Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Kevin Honea said.

The woman's husband and the infant were taken to University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The SUV veered into the median near mile marker 77 and the husband steered sharply to the right and the vehicle overturned, Honea said.

The woman was thrown from the SUV and died at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt, Honea said.
