Collision

Three people suffered serious to critical injuries Saturday in a car-pickup truck collision on West Ann Road and North Torrey Pines Drive in Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

A 17-year-old male driver of the car, who has not yet been identified, and a passenger in the pickup truck, Trista Carigan, 20 Las Vegas, were both listed in critical condition at University Medical Center Trauma, police said.

The driver of the pickup truck, Mathew Waltman, 21, Las Vegas, was listed in serious condition at UMC Trauma, police said.

The accident occurred at 5:59 p.m. Saturday when the driver of the car, a 2008 Nissan Altima was going west on Ann Road at Torrey Pines in the right through lane going straight.

The pickup truck, a 2001 Dodge Ram, was going north on Torrey Pines at Ann and was going straight across Ann from the stop sign, police said.

Officers said the front of the Nissan struck the passenger side of the pickup truck, pushing both vehicles in a northwest direction and through a block wall into the yard on the northwest corner.

Police said the pickup truck was also pushed into a street light pole, which caused the pickup to rotate counter clockwise and eject Carigan.

Officers said that witnesses at the scene and evidence taken indicate that the car driven by the juvenile was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The collision remains under investigation, police said.
