Students to model prom dresses

Boulder City High School's National Honor Society will hold a Prom Dress Fashion Show at 5 p.m. April 23 at the Boulder City Public Library Amphitheater.

Students will model prom dresses collected from the high school and other area honor society chapters. The dresses will be donated to the Las Vegas Prom Closet, formerly Aly's Prom Closet, for use by girls who cannot afford dresses.

The society is asking for donations of $5 at the door, to be donated to the Shade Tree women's shelter in Las Vegas.

Seminar will offer stress tips

A free seminar on dealing with stress will be held at 7 p.m. April 28 at the Boulder City Library, 701 Adams Blvd.

Jim Serada, a motivational speaker, will present "Success Without Stress."

Boutique hosting Relay mixer

The Hottest Dam Boutique will host a kickoff for the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life at 5 p.m. April 26. The event will be a mixer with cancer survivors at the boutique, 501 Nevada Way, Suite 1.

The boutique is a sponsor of the annual Relay For Life, which will be held 6 p.m. May 15 at the Boulder City High School track.

People can still sign up online for the relay at www.relayforlife.org/bouldercitynv or they can join or form a team at the mixer.

A 15 percent off coupon will be given at the door and free food and beverages will be provided.

Marina to hold Temple Bar Days

Temple Bar Marina announces plans for the Second Annual Temple Bar Days May 1-3. Temple Bar Days is an annual event produced by Forever Resorts and the Temple Bar Trailer Village Association to celebrate the natural beauty of Temple Bar and the surrounding areas of Lake Mead.

"Our first event was great, but this year will be even bigger and better," said Mark Schoffstall, general manager of Temple Bar Marina.

An eco-dive and community cleanup will be held May 1 followed by a barbecue on the beach, kids' fishing tournament, game night and poker run May 2 and a chili contest and salsa showdown on May 3.

The dive and cleanup is a volunteer and free event.

Participation in the other events and contests requires a one-time entry fee of $20 until April 30 or $25 on the day of the event.

Temple Bar Marina is on the Arizona shoreline of Lake Mead, 28 miles east of Highway 93. From Las Vegas, cross Hoover Dam and continue into Arizona past mile marker 19. Turn left at the Temple Bar turnoff.

Concert honoring musician

A concert to celebrate the 50-year career of musician Charlie Shaffer will be held at 7 p.m. April 24 at St. Andrew Catholic Community Parish Hall, 1399 San Felipe Drive.

The show, "Charlie's Angels," will star Shaffer and feature fellow musicians Phil Marcus Esser, Nancy Porter, Laura Shaffer, Alyson Tobler, Francyl Gawryn, Susan Slykerman, Justin Keough, Marta Thompson and Greg Langley.

Tickets are $20 and available in advance at Plaza Realty. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit Emergency Aid of Boulder City.
