If you don’t believe the old political adage “No permanent friends, no permanent enemies,” consider what the Nevada State Education Association put out Tuesday about Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford after he was quoted backing a corporate profits tax. “Nevada’s Educators Praise Senator Horsford for His Bold Leadership Regarding Nevada’s Budget Crisis,” read the headline on a news release. The union previously had assailed Horsford after the majority leader criticized the teachers’ pushing of that room tax initiative. But now that Horsford is keeping the door open for a corporate profits tax, he can feel the love from the one reminder for both sides: No permanent friends, no permanent enemies.
