Construction company alleges IGT owes $1.475 million

A dispute over construction costs for IGT's new Las Vegas campus has resulted in the filing of a lawsuit against the slot machine maker.

Big-D Construction Corp. of Salt Lake City filed the suit Tuesday in Clark County District Court against International Game Technology, claiming it's owed $1.475 million for work on the 618,000-square-foot campus at 6355 S. Buffalo Drive.

Big-D said after completion of the project, both parties filed claims against each other with Big-D demanding additional money for extra work it performed and for delays experienced during construction.

IGT also asserted claims for work it said was not performed, was defective or not in accordance with the plans and specifications for the project, the lawsuit said.

Big-D said it filed a mechanic's lien against IGT's property in October and that the lien amount was later reduced when IGT paid some of the subcontractors and suppliers. Still, $1.475 million remains due on the project, the construction company claims.

An IGT spokesman declined comment, saying the company doesn't comment on pending litigation.
