Motorcyclist critically injured in west valley crash

Crash

A Las Vegas man riding his motorcycle at a high rate of speed in the western Las Vegas Valley suffered critical injuries when he was struck by a car making a U-turn Friday afternoon, Metro Police said.

At about 12:43 p.m., Pauline Sutter, 57, was driving her 2003 Acura southbound on Hualapai Way near its intersection with Alta Drive. As she began making a U-turn to go northbound on Hualpai, a northbound 1998 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Brent Borges, 23, was unable to stop and struck the right rear of the Acura, authorities said.

Police said Borges was thrown from the motorcycle and was taken to University Medical Center, where he was admitted to the trauma unit in critical condition.

No charges have been filed.
