Regarding Brian Greenspun’s Sunday column, “ ‘Tea parties’ resembled childish tantrums”:
Mr. Greenspun just doesn’t get it, so I will try to explain in simple terms that even a liberal can understand.
The “tea parties” were not only about paying taxes. The movement is also about how those taxes are being spent. It is about corruption and the self-serving, arrogant politicians who have forgotten that they serve the people.
It is about the incompetence, waste, fraud and abuse of power in the government. It is about special interests and the buying or bribing for power and profit. It is about both parties, which are equally incompetent and entrenched in thinking that only they know what is good for the people and that we are just too ignorant to understand, so we must be forced into doing what they know is best.
We the people want them all fired and replacements put in place — good people who don’t want a place on the gravy train but wish to really serve their country, and who will serve for a short period and then go home.
Politicians are supposed to work for us; we do not work for them. It is about the common good of the people and not pork to get votes for reelection. It’s about America
