ATV rider injured in rural accident near Jean

A woman riding an all-terrain vehicle in a desert area of rural Clark County was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when the driver lost control and the ATV rolled over, Metro Police said.

Authorities said that at about 1:36 p.m., Shawn Hosek, 37, of Henderson, was driving his 2008 Polaris Ranger ATV westbound on a dirt road in an area along State Route 161, between Jean and Goodsprings, when he lost control and the vehicle rolled onto its right side.

The passenger, 40-year-old Amber Ciaramella of Henderson, was airlifted to University Medical Center and was admitted to the trauma unit with serious injuries, police said. Hosek suffered minor injuries.

The accident occurred about four miles northwest of Interstate 15.
