Finally, this week we will have all the information we need to know about the state budget except, that is, for a solution. The state’s Economic Forum, those expert Nostradamuses assigned to predict the future, will tell us how much revenue will come in during the biennium. Then the legislative leaders will be out of excuses for delaying the release of a tax plan. They will have the number and they will then squabble about what they need and then, voila, they will say about $700 million is needed. That’s the easy part, at least for some of them. The question then becomes what hostages will be taken to exchange for the tax package, what bills will be held up in the bargaining. And that no forecaster could possibly predict.
