Pedestrian injured, woman arrested for DUI in crash

Collision

A pedestrian crossing Decatur Boulevard just north of U.S. 95 was critically injured Monday night when he was struck by an SUV driven by a woman police say was under the influence.

Metro Police said that at about 11:05 p.m., Dennis Lain, 64, of Las Vegas, was crossing Decatur at its intersection with Washington Avenue in the crosswalk from west to east when a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer driven by 69-year-old Las Vegas resident Delores Sanders wasn't able to stop, and struck him.

Lain was taken to University Medical Center, where he was admitted with critical injuries, police said.

Sanders failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for driving under the influence.
