Letter to the editor:

Goodman overrides his bosses, the voters

I am appalled at Mayor Oscar Goodman’s attempt to destroy the sacred constitutional right of the people to petition our government. More than 14,000 voters signed a petition to place a question relating to redevelopment funding on the ballot. The mayor vehemently disagrees with the question, and wants to keep the people from voting.

It’s not his decision. He is one person; he gets one vote. At least that’s how it worked last I checked. Why does the mayor get to decide which issue the people vote on? He is doing everything he can to keep the will of the people from being expressed.

How long will Las Vegas put up with this? Mayor Goodman should have let the people vote.
