Police: Home invasion victim OK, no suspect in shooting

Shooting area

A 44-year-old Las Vegas man's head was grazed by a bullet during a home invasion, Metro Police said.

The man's 18-year-old daughter called 911, telling a dispatcher that she and her father had been asleep when a man kicked in the door and shot him, police said.

Police were called about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday to the 7100 block of Smoke Ranch Road, near Rock Springs Drive, said Officer Barbara Morgan.

Although the man was taken to University Medical Center for treatment, he appeared to be conscious, alert and talking, Morgan said.

A description of the suspect has not been released by the police, Morgan said.

The Clark County School District locked down Cimarron-Memorial High School and The Delta Academy, but lifted the lockdown at 11:30 a.m.
