Norbert "Brownie" Nies, 81, of Henderson passed away Aug. 2 at a local hospice.
He was born March 4, 1928, in Greenleaf, WIs. He served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948 and Air Force from 1950 to 1952. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Joyce, daughter Rae Ann Nies of Henderson, son Terry and his wife Joyce Nies of Las Vegas, stepson Mike Hougen of Las Vegas, stepdaughter Diane and husband Mark Busicchia of Henderson, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by siblings Earl Nies and Cyril Nies of Green Bay, Wis., Rita Linzmeier of Cato, Wis., Rose Phillips of Green Bay, Wis., and Sophie Biddle of Cadiz, KY.
He was preceded in death by son Scott Nies.
Burial will be Aug. 14 at 1:20 p.m. at Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery, Boulder City. A celebration of Brownie's life will be held Aug. 15 from 2-4 p.m. at American Legion Post 40, 425 Van Wagenen St., Henderson.
