Woman dies in three-vehicle crash

A three-vehicle crash near the intersection of U.S. 95 and Lake Mead Boulevard on Feb. 16 resulted in the death of a California woman.

The accident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. when a Dodge Durango rear-ended a Chevy compact car while exiting northbound U.S. 95, said Trooper Kevin Honea of Nevada Highway Patrol.

The impact pushed the Chevy into Lake Mead Boulevard, where it was hit by a passing sedan. The driver of the Chevy, 65-year-old Joyce Kirsch of Woodland Hills, Calif., was transported to University Medical Center, where she later died as a result of her injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation although it does not appear alcohol was a factor, Honea said.
