Henderson deaths

Gerald Kerns

Gerald W. Kerns, 74, of Henderson, died Jan. 1.

A 10-year resident, he was born Nov. 30, 1934, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was a retired personal assistant to a touring band.

He is survived by his sister, Karen Bjornson of Henderson; three nieces; a nephew; four great-nieces; and three great-nephews.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, nvspca.org or 873-7722.

Services were private.

Sunrise Cremation handled the arrangements.

Francis La Bou

Francis D. La Bou, 74, of Henderson, died Feb. 14.

A 12-year resident, La Bou was born April 4, 1934, in California. He was a retired mill wright and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War.

He is survived by his daughters Sherry Ann Brown of Henderson and Frances La Bou, and two grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Crystal Gray

Crystal Louise Klinkenberg Gray, 23, of North Las Vegas, died Feb. 20.

A longtime Henderson resident, she was born Feb. 18, 1986, in Henderson. She was a steel fabrication laborer.

She is survived by her mother, Michelle Elaine Paldi of Henderson; father, Monty Edwin Gray, of Apache Junction, Ariz.; brothers Travis Gray and his family of Henderson, and Trevor Gray of Henderson; grandparents Gabriel and Joannne Paldi of Henderson; and uncles Daniel Paldi and his family of Moapa Valley, Rodney Paldi and his family of Henderson, and Russell Paldi and his family of Texas.

Visitation was held Feb. 23 at Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Services were held Feb. 24 at Palm Mortuary-Henderson.

Dennis Law

Dennis R. Law, 68, of Henderson, died Feb. 21 while surrounded by his family.

A 45-year resident, Dennis was born Jan. 7, 1941, in Murray, Utah, to Ray R. and Ila Fay Phelps Law.

He retired a captain after 35 years of service in the Clark County Fire Department. His unit was one of the first responders to the MGM Grand hotel fire in 1980.

Before joining the Fire Department, he served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served as a church high priest in the Mission Hills Ward.

On Oct. 6, 1961, he married Charlotte Fisher in Hawaii. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 17, 1968.

He enjoyed restoring 1966 Toronados, genealogy, and building and flying model airplanes. His family members prize the genealogy books he compiled and presented to each of them. For many years he taught piano and organ lessons. He also worked part-time as a security guard at Caesars Palace for 16 years.

Dennis is survived by, Charlotte, his wife of 47 years; son, Christopher Law and his wife, Zoe Ann Holt; daughters Cindy Smith, Jacqueline Law, Carey Dutchover and her husband, Eddie, and Michelle Law; 10 grandchildren; two great -grandchildren; three sisters; three brothers; three half-brothers; and stepparents Kay and Willard Higley.

Dennis was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia.

Services were held Feb. 25.
