Sun City Summerlin elects new board

Sun City Summerlin voters have returned three incumbents and one former member to the community's Board of Directors.

Ballots were counted today with Allan Baer, Ken Caroccia and Marilyn LeVasseur retaining their seats. Orin "Bud" Cook, who served on the board in 2006 and 2007, was elected also.

A total of 3,135 ballots were counted for the board election out of 7,781 homeowners. The four candidates with the most votes were elected.

The number of returned ballots was about half of those for the proposed fire station count on Feb. 18, which passed.

Participation has been higher in years with controversial issues, board President Richard Post said.

"This year, there was really no big hot button issue that was grabbing people's attention," he said.

New officers for the board will be selected at the March 9 meeting.

Official results will be available on the community's Web site at www.suncity-summerlin.com.
