Henderson deaths

Timothy Buehner

Timothy Scott Buehner, 47, of Henderson, died in his home after an 11-month battle with cancer.

A Henderson resident since 1998, he was born Feb. 27, 1962, in Littleton, Colo. He grew up in Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah and graduated from Utah Technical College in 1984.

He married Debra Davis in 1989 and worked in Newport Beach, Calif., in the family business, Buehner Concrete.

He moved to Henderson in 1998 to work as West Coast sales manager for Pavestone Co., where he won numerous awards and was promoted to national sales manager.

He enjoyed boating with his family on Lake Powell, hiking in Southern Utah, snowboarding and riding his Harley.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Debra, of Henderson; children Grant Hiller and Breanna Buehner of Henderson and Brett Buehner and Brooke Draper and her husband, Josh, of Salt Lake City; parents Naomi Feigal and Timothy and Martsie Buehner; brother Curt Buehner and his wife, Dione; sisters Christine Nielson and her husband, Tom, and Brittney Kent and her husband, Roger.

Funeral services were held March 10 in Salt Lake City. The family asks that donations be made to the Nevada Cancer Institute.

Wasatch Lawn Mortuary of Salt Lake City handled the arrangements.

Gordon Day

Gordon Gus Day, 84, died on March 3.

He was a groundskeeper and worked at the Black Mountain Golf Course in Henderson for more than 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his son, Lonnie Day, of Phoenix; grandson Lonnie Day of Charlottesville, Va.; granddaughters Karen Day, Nicole Day and Bobbie Day of Henderson and grandson Brandon Day of Tampa, Fla. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.

Services for Day will be held at Southern Nevada Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City on March 13 at 1:20 p.m.

Affordable Cremation handled the arrangements.

Patricia Morse

Patricia Ruth Smith Morse, 65, died March 4.

A 45-year resident of Henderson and Las Vegas, she was born Aug. 22, 1943, in Caliente.

After graduating at the top of her class in high school, Pat found her way to Las Vegas and worked at the Nevada Test Site. She also worked for the City of Henderson, US Home Corp. and Kmart.

She was a member of Central Christian Church and First Southern Baptist Church. She hiked the Narrows of Zion and beat skin and breast cancer. She enjoyed reading, doing crosswords, and dabbled in writing poetry.

She is survived by her sons William and his wife, Jenifer, Wesley and his wife, JoAnne; daughter DeLinda and her husband, Revoe; grandsons Derek, Billy, Alex, and Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Morse Jr., sisters Sally Wing and Melba Bradley and brother William "Bud" Smith.

Services will be held at noon March 13 at Central Christian Church, 1001 New Beginnings Drive, Henderson. Please use the Russell entrance and proceed to door 4. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Lied Animal Foundation.

Eldoris Wages

After being diagnosed with cancer in October 2008, Eldoris Dee Wages, 80, of Henderson, died Feb. 25.

Dee, as he was known, was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Rigby, Idaho. He served in the Marine Corps 1945 to 1948. He married Betty J. Wages, and in 1963, found work in steel fabrication in the Las Vegas Valley. Dee helped build many of the major resorts on the Las Vegas Strip.

He was a member of the Sunrise Community Church and frequented the Eldorado Casino most mornings for breakfast before heading to Pickarts Auto Parts, where he worked part time after retiring.

He is survived by his second wife, Cleo Stroud-Wages; children Michael Wages of Henderson, Sandra Wages-Quintana of Espanola, N.M., and Debby Wages-Stanford and Douglas Wages, both of Henderson; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren, with one due in July.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty.

Services will be at 2 p.m. March 12, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City, NV 89005.

Lois E. Sanger

Lois E. Sanger, 92, died March 5.

Sanger was born March 23, 1916, in Cameron, Okla., but lived in the Henderson area since 1948.

She was a retired owner of her own gardening store and a member of the Elks Lodge in Henderson.

She is survived by her brother, Richard R.L. Evans; sisters Mae Cassell, Christine Colgate and Leah Floyd; all of California, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Palm Mortuary of Henderson handled the arrangements.

Ella M. Gricius

Ella M. Gricius, 83, died March 26.

Gricius had lived in Henderson since 1952, and was born in Mt. Vernon, Ill., on Dec. 9, 1925.

She was a retired high school food server.

Gricius was preceded in death by her son, Danny Joe Davis, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Avery, of Henderson, and two grandchildren.

Services will be March 12 at 10 a.m. at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway.
