Dallas company assumes some assets of Rhodes Homes

Dallas-based Dunhill Homes today announced that it has launched homebuilding operations in Las Vegas by assuming some of the assets of Rhodes Homes.

Dunhill was selected to manage and develop the Las Vegas assets by a lender group that held the first lien under a plan approved by Judge Linda Riegle in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Rhodes filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on March 31 and April 1, 2009.

The new company to emerge from bankruptcy will continue homebuilding in Rhodes Ranch and the Tuscany master-planned communities under the new management. The new enterprise will also own several commercial land parcels, including 50 acres in the southwest valley.

Dunhill announced it plans to close on 200 homes in 2010.

Richard Dix, former Mountain West Area President of the Las Vegas division for Pulte Homes, is the chairman. Doe Boettcher, who served on the executive management team for Pulte Homes’ Las Vegas division, will serve as division president.
