Firefighter suffers minor injury in small arson fire

House fire

A firefighter suffered minor injuries in a fire at a vacant house this morning that authorities believe was intentionally set.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said neighbors called about 8:30 a.m. to report that light smoke was coming from the roof of a vacant house in the 200 block of Crestline Drive.

The one-story house has no sprinklers or smoke alarms. The front door to the house was open when firefighters arrived and the rest of the house was secured, authorities said. Several small fires were found in the back bedrooms and immediately put out, Szymanski said.

A firefighter suffered a minor foot injury and was taken to University Medical Center, Szymanski said.

The estimated damage is $150. Firefighters are investigating the incident but arson is suspected, authorities said.
