Boy, 16, struck by vehicle while exiting school bus

Investigation

A 16-year-old boy has been taken to University Medical Center with head and back injuries after he was hit by a truck while exiting a school bus on Lamb Boulevard.

Metro Police spokesman Jay Rivera said the boy had exited a school bus and was walking across the road when a red Ford truck struck him at 1:22 p.m. near the intersection of North Lamb Boulevard and East Alexander Road. He said the boy suffered head injuries but was conscious after the impact.

Two northbound traffic lanes on Lamb Boulevard south of Alexander Road were shut down. Drivers were asked to avoid the area.
