A 20-year-old New Jersey man wanted in connection with the shooting of a disabled man in 2009 was arrested Wednesday in Las Vegas, authorities said.

Daniel Markel is accused of shooting a disabled man who was sitting on a porch in Newark, N.J., on Sept. 3, 2009, the U.S. Marshals Service said. He was wanted on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, officials said.

The U.S. Marshals Nevada Fugitive Investigative Strike Team arrested him Wednesday night in the area of East Summerlin Parkway and North Buffalo Drive. He has been booked into the Clark County Detention Center and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey, officials said.

Authorities said they were able to locate and arrest Markel three hours after receiving information that he was in the valley. The U.S. Marshals Nevada Fugitive Investigative Strike Team collaborated with Metro Police gang unit detectives and the U.S. Marshals New York New Jersey Regional Task Force.
