Fatal crash

An 85-year-old Las Vegas woman whose car crashed into a wall in Summerlin died Friday morning, Metro Police said. The woman’s husband was also injured in the crash.

The woman might have had a medical issue and choked on food while driving, Metro spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said. The driver’s name was not immediately released.

The woman was driving south on High Range Drive when she lost control of her 2000 Infiniti G20, went through a T intersection at Button Willow Drive and hit a brick wall, police said.

The accident, which occurred shortly after 10 a.m., was near Lake Mead Boulevard and Sun City Boulevard.

The woman was taken to Summerlin Hospital, where she died, police said. Her husband, identified as Sherman Singer, 88, was taken to University Medical Center in serious condition.

The coroner’s office will determine the cause of death and release the name of the driver.
