Bail has been set at $1 million for a North Las Vegas man accused of beating his wife to death with a bat during a domestic dispute earlier this month.

Bobby Dale Richards, 40, is charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon for allegedly killing his wife, 46-year-old Bronwyn Richards, on April 16.

Authorities responded just before 6 a.m. to a home in the 3200 block of Atwater Drive, and found Bronwyn Richards suffering from injuries. She was transported to University Medical Center, where she died of blunt force injuries to the head, the coroner’s office said.

North Las Vegas Police spokesman Tim Bedwell said Bobby Dale Richards was arrested in connection with her death after giving voluntary statements to detectives about the incident.

He appeared in front of Justice of the Peace Natalie Tyrrell this morning in North Las Vegas Justice Court for an arraignment. Tyrrell set his preliminary hearing for 9:30 a.m. May 10. He is being held in the North Las Vegas Detention Center.

The Clark County School District said Bronwyn Richards was an art teacher at Joseph Neal Elementary School, 6651 W. Azure Drive.
