Stabbing

A 21-year-old man was taken to University Medical Center after suffering life-threatening injuries Thursday night in what Metro Police are calling a gang-related stabbing.

Metro Lt. Dan McGrath said the victim was stabbed about 8 p.m. at the Sandpebble Village Apartments, near Arville Street and Desert Inn Road. He said two rival gang members were fighting on the front steps of an apartment when the victim was stabbed.

The man, who lives at the apartment complex, was in critical condition, police said. He was stabbed at least once in the chest, and the knife nicked his heart, McGrath said.

Several other men were seen fleeing the area after the stabbing but no descriptions have been released, McGrath said.

Metro’s gang unit has been called to the scene to investigate.
