From investment banker to mall girl, Linda Chang went from growing her clients' portfolios to growing her family's multibillion-dollar empire. Oldest daughter of Don and Jin Sook Chang, founders of the über-trendy retail giant Forever 21, the 28-year-old recently left the high-powered world of finance to head up marketing for the burgeoning fast-fashion chain.
"Las Vegas Magazine" caught up with Chang at the opening of their newest location, inside Fashion Show, to talk about what she loves about Las Vegas.
Shark Reef: I really love animals and the whole aquatic thing, so that's really awesome to see.
Cirque du Soleil: "O" was so amazing ... I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was so scared for the acrobats, but it was so good.
Wynn: The gardens there are so beautiful. My sister, who does all the visuals for the company, was so taken aback by how beautiful it was and started taking pictures for inspiration.
Forever 21: This is one of our bigger-box concepts (126,000 square feet). We've started getting into bigger department-size stores in order to reach a wider demographic, so we've introduced men's, kids', plus sizes, contemporary and maternity offerings.
Attractions: I've done all the touristy things in town and I like New York-New York. I'm extremely scared of heights, but my friends keep trying to convince me to do the roller coaster.
Fashion: We get a lot of our inspiration from the streets. We really want to respond to what the customer wants, and Vegas is a melting pot, so it's a great place to pick up on trends.
Sushi Samba: It's a fusion of Brazilian and Asian and the sushi is served tapas style, so it is great for a large party. And it was great that the chef customized the menu for what the group liked.
