Police make arrest in ‘scarf-face’ robbery cases

North Las Vegas Police arrested a man Sunday who they believe is responsible for several robberies in the northeast Las Vegas Valley over the past month.

The suspect is believed to be the man police have called the "scarf-face robber," because he wears a scarf over his face to conceal his identity during each robbery.

Officers arrested the man about 5 p.m. Monday and charged him with three robberies that occurred in the past few weeks in North Las Vegas. The man is also suspected in at least 14 other cases in Metro Police jurisdiction.

The first robbery the man is accused of took place Dec. 19, 2009. Many of the robberies took place between 2:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., and others occurred between 12:50 p.m. and 6 p.m., police said.

In a Jan. 7 robbery, a clerk shot at the suspect and the man left without money. Police said they don’t believe the man was struck by bullets.

Police weren't releasing the man's name on Wednesday.
