A man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly struck his girlfriend and set their Henderson mobile home on fire, authorities said today.

Fernando Rojas Jr., 26, was arrested on two counts of arson Sunday morning, according to Clark County court records. He was also arrested on five counts of intimidating a public officer, two counts of battery on a police officer and one count of carrying a concealed weapon.

The Henderson Fire Department received a call about 5 a.m. Sunday from neighbors saying they saw smoke and fire coming from the mobile home. Firefighters arrived six minutes later at 2050 Magic Way near Boulder Highway and extinguished the fire in about five minutes, officials said.

No one was at the home at the time of the fire and no one was injured in the fire, officials said. The fire caused about $5,000 in damage, investigators said.

Police were originally called to the home at about midnight on a domestic battery call, arrest reports indicate.

Officers said Rojas’ girlfriend had bruises on her arms and neck and that one of her legs was swollen. She also had dried blood on the back of her head, an arrest report said.

Officials said Rojas resisted arrest and had a gun hidden, tucked along the waistband of his pants. The gun was not registered to Rojas, police said.

Rojas yelled obscenities at officers and threatened to harm their families, officials said.

Court records indicate Rojas’ bail was set at $30,000 in Henderson Justice Court.
