Sarah Palin waves to her fans at the "Showdown in Searchlight" Tea Party Express rally just outside Searchlight on Saturday, March 27, 2010.

Former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin will be the featured speaker May 23 when the International Council of Shopping Centers opens its annual convention in Las Vegas.

Palin is expected to talk about leadership at RECon 2010, the world’s largest gathering of real estate professionals. The conference, which runs through May 25, is expected to attract more than 30,000 people to the Las Vegas Convention Center, 3150 Paradise Road.

Only those who register for the conference can attend Palin’s speech.

The registration is $575 for members and $1,150 for nonmembers. Registration is available at the convention center.

Palin will speak about 1:30 p.m.

Other speakers at the three-day conference include former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, Blake Nordstrom, the president of Nordstrom Inc., and Virginia Postel, author and former New York Times economic columnist.

The convention provides educational seminars for the retail development industry and gives executives an opportunity to network make deals.

Palin's last visit to the area was March 27 when she spoke during a Tea Party rally in Searchlight.
