Metro Police investigate a suspected drug-related shooting Thursday afternoon at the Emerald Suites, 9145 S. Las Vegas Blvd., that left a man dead. Police said the man was visiting friends at one of the rooms when two men entered with handguns and shot him numerous times.

Metro Police are investigating a homicide that occurred at Emerald Suites on Thursday afternoon in the south Las Vegas Valley.
Police responded at 2:31 p.m. to the shooting at 9145 S. Las Vegas Blvd. involving a man who was shot numerous times in the neck in a hotel room, police Sgt. Russ Shoemaker said. That location is near Las Vegas Boulevard's intersection with Serene Avenue.
Police said the victim was dead at the scene.
Shoemaker said the man was visiting friends in a hotel room when two men armed with handguns entered. The victim's friends weren't injured, police said.
Authorities said the shooting might have been drug-related.
Police this afternoon had taken someone into custody for questioning, but Shoemaker said late Thursday afternoon that the person was released and cleared of any involvement.
