Kevin Orrock is the new chairman of the board of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce.

The lifelong Nevadan, who holds an MBA from UNLV, is executive vice president of master planned communities for the Howard Hughes Corporation. He began his career with the company in the accounting department at the Desert Inn before transferring to the corporate office in 1978. Orrock is a member of the advisory board of directors for U.S. Bank’s Las Vegas operation and the UNLV College of Business.

The Latin Chamber of Commerce recognized members for exemplary work in 2011 and installed board members and chairman at its annual year-end gala Dec. 9.

Javier Trujillo, an intergovernmental relations specialist for the city of Henderson, was named chairman of the chamber during the banquet held at Paris Las Vegas.

The event also doubled as an awards ceremony.

Tony Sanchez, senior vice president of government and community strategy for NV Energy, received the Judge John F. Mendoza Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Arturo Cambeiro Hispanic of the Year Award went to Luis Valera, UNLV vice president of diversity initiatives and government relations.

The other honorees were: Sherif Abdou, Health Care Award; Rafael Mitjans, Educator of the Year; John Bertoldo, Public Service Award; Phil Avila, President’s Award; Penny Perez, Small-Business Owner; Juan Mora, Business Entrepreneur; Walmart Stores, Corporation of the Year; and Southwest Airlines, Tourism Award.

Gov. Brian Sandoval led the ceremony swearing in the chamber’s officers and board members.

Chamber officers for 2012 include Joe Hernandez, vice chairman; Maggie Arias-Petrel, secretary-treasurer; Daniel Tafoya, assistant secretary-treasurer; and Valera, immediate past chairman.

Board members for 2012 are Arthur Cambeiro, Brian Ayala, Daniel Johnson, Gaby Jurica, Jose Melendrez, Judge Valorie Vega, Roman Alvarez, Tony Timmons, Andres Estrada, Aldo Aguirre, Edgar Patino, Eddie Galaz, Isauro Gonzalez, Elizabeth Gallagher, Lizette Villanueva, Juergen Barbusca, Maximiliano Couvillier, Luis Ayon, Norberto Madrigal, Ramon Torres and a representative of Latino Youth Leadership.

David Kellerman is vice president of finance and Peggy Franzino is vice president of membership for the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. Kellerman previously was the chief financial officer for Nevada Commerce Bank, now City National Bank. Franzino joined the chamber in 2007 and was previously its director of sales.

John Zilliken, Tom Morris and Nicole Montoya have joined General Growth Properties’ management team at the Shoppes at the Palazzo and the Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian. Zilliken is senior general manager, Morris is senior operations manager and Montoya is common-area coordinator.

Julie Messner, Craig Staack, Lee Hershberg and Margaret Powers are vice presidents for International Market Centers. The four are members of the Las Vegas and High Point, N.C., leasing teams for the company, an operator of showroom and exhibition space for premium home furnishings, gift and home décor. Messer and Staack will be responsible for business development, Hershberg for home décor and Powers for trade shows.

Kenneth W. Bentley has joined the board of directors of First Tee of Southern Nevada. He is a vice president of Nestle USA, where he is responsible for community affairs, educational programs, workplace diversity and the Nestle USA foundation.

Katie Tannenberg is an account coordinator and Erin Flanagan is an assistant account executive at SK+G. Tannenberg previously was direct marketing coordinator at Arizona Charlie’s/American Casinos & Entertainment Properties. Flanagan previously served as the agency’s account coordinator for the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa and Water Club accounts.

Raymond J. Juzaitis is president of National Security Technologies. He will begin Jan. 5 and succeeds Stephen M. Younger, who is retiring. NSTec is the management and operating contractor of the Nevada National Security Site and is a joint venture whose partners include Northrop Grumman, AECOM, Babcock & Wilcox, and CH2M Hill. Juzaitis previously was the department head, nuclear engineering at Texas A&M University.

Antioco Carrillo is executive director Aid for AIDS of Nevada. He will assume the role Jan. 1. Carrillo has more than 17 years of experience working in the HIV/AIDS field. He has developed and implemented several HIV prevention and treatment modalities in Clark County and has worked closely with local, state and federal organizations in procuring funds for substance abuse and HIV/AIDS services in Southern Nevada.

Shere Anderson is CEO of Ganix Bio Technologies, replacing Scott McManus, who now will focus on corporate development. Anderson had been CEO of On-Demand Technologies, a Kansas City-based company.

Dean Elyacoubi is co-chairman and James Arnold is vice chairman for United Way of Southern Nevada’s Young Philanthropists Society, which includes individuals who donate time, money and skills to the charitable organization. United Way also named Robert Welling as vice president of resource development.

He previously was national sales manager at the Riviera.

The national certification demonstrates an individual’s professionalism and achievement in the landscape profession. Land Care specializes in designing, installing and maintaining landscaping projects of all sizes.

The Orleans has received a 2011 Quality Assurance Award from MLT Vacations. The resport earned the award based on customer satisfaction and product performance ratings.
