Clark County commissioners approved the appointment of Edward Finger as a new assistant county manager Tuesday.

County Manager Don Burnette appointed Finger to fill the vacant position on Jan. 24. State law requires commissioners approve the appointment.

Finger left the county in December to become the assistant city manager for Reno after working for almost seven years as the county’s comptroller. Before working for Clark County, he was finance director of Thornton, Colo.

Finger is a certified public accountant in Nevada and has a master’s degree in finance and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Colorado at Denver.

Finger is the third assistant county manager, joining Jeff Wells, who was appointed in December 2007, and Randall Tarr, who was appointed in June. The county has only had two assistant managers since 2009, when a previous assistant left.

The county’s chief financial officer, George Stevens, was appointed to replace Finger as comptroller in December.
