Metro probes report of 2 officers driving in Arizona while on duty

Updated Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011 | 2:20 p.m.

Metro Police are investigating why two officers were allegedly driving in Mohave County, Ariz., last month while they were supposed to be on duty in Las Vegas.

Police said the two officers, Brad Gallup and Jake Grunwald, were stopped for a traffic violation by Arizona law enforcement officials while traveling in the area.

Metro spokesman Bill Cassell said the two officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation but wouldn't elaborate on other details regarding the incident.

Officials from the Mohave County Sheriff Department confirmed a deputy stopped the pair for a traffic violation.

The department began internally investigating the issue after rumors started circulating Jan. 19, he said.

For now, Cassell said Metro Police officials are waiting for the outcome of their investigation.
