Traffic light out after wind damages 3 telephone poles in Henderson

Telephone poles down

Crews are making emergency repairs to telephone poles that were damaged by high winds Tuesday in the area of Green Valley Parkway and Sunset Road in Henderson. The traffic light at the intersection is inoperable while the repairs are being completed and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.

Three telephone poles along Sunset Road east of Green Valley Parkway were damaged by high winds, Henderson officials said.

Pole owner CenturyLink was installing the new poles Tuesday afternoon; NV Energy was assisting with the repairs. A power outage was reported earlier Tuesday but service has since been restored, according to an NV Energy spokesman. Service to CenturyLink customers wasn't interrupted.

Drivers are being asked to avoid the area.

Flag personnel will be providing traffic control at the intersection until the signal is operable, authorities said. Drivers were being warned that lane restrictions may be in place and that they should reduce speed, exercise caution and follow the flag personnel directions when traveling through the area.

Motorists can use the Sunset Road-Mountain Vista Street intersection as a detour.
