Highs to hit upper 60s again in Las Vegas

Colder weather moving in Tuesday, forecasters said

A super Sunday is in store for the Las Vegas Valley, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures soaring into the upper 60s again.

While chilly weather greeted fans at Super Bowl activities in Dallas, Las Vegas will have another day of temperatures running about eight to 10 degrees above normal.

Highs in the region today include 69 degrees for Las Vegas, 72 for Lake Mead, 66 for Boulder City, 47 for Mount Charleston, 66 for Pahrump and 71 for Bullhead City.

Above-normal temperatures will continue through Monday as a ridge of high pressure remains over the eastern Pacific Ocean, according to the National Weather Service.

However, colder weather is on the way.

The next weather system moves in Monday night and Tuesday, resulting in a round of gusty north winds, cooler temperatures and a slight chance of showers, primarily over the mountains of eastern Nevada and northwest Arizona, the weather service said.

At 4:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 52 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 40 degrees. The record low was 19 degrees, set in 1989, 1982 and 1938.

Around the valley just before 5 a.m., temperatures were 53 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 51 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 51 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 56 degrees by 9 a.m., to 65 degrees by noon and reach a high of 69 degrees by 2 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 61 degrees and the record high was 78 degrees, set in 1963.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 62 degrees by 6 p.m., to 54 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 50 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Monday's morning low will be 48 degrees and Monday's high will climb to 71 degrees, they said.
