A parent dropping a child off at school struck a bus carrying 43 students this morning in the eastern valley, Metro Police said.

The accident involving a Clark County school bus and a red Lincoln Continental happened at 9:11 a.m. outside Sister Robert Joseph Bailey Elementary School, near Jimmy Durante Boulevard and Slow Bluff Drive, police said.

Sgt. Joseph Maviglia said seven students were being looked at for minor injuries such as neck and back pain. No one else was injured.

A preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the Lincoln Continental was at fault when he hit the side of the bus near the door, causing minor damage, Maviglia said. No citations had been issued late this morning.

Students were taken off the bus and parents were called, which is standard procedure involving school bus accidents, police said.

The bus was taking students to the elementary school, Maviglia said.

Police blocked off a portion of Slow Bluff Drive as they investigated the accident.
