Woman indicted in 2009 murder of man found in burning car

A grand jury today indicted a 27-year-old woman in the death of a man found shot and left in the trunk of a burning car in December 2009.

Antonio Garcia Jr., 31, was found Dec. 20, 2009, in an area near Lamb Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue in the northeast valley after a citizen who saw the burning vehicle contacted police. The Clark County Coroner's Office ruled his death a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the head.

The grand jury indicted Sandra Macias on counts of conspiracy to commit murder, murder with use of a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery with use of a deadly weapon and third-degree arson.

Macias allegedly planned with Paul Lopez and Randy Lopez to murder Garcia, according to the indictment.

The indictment alleges Macias and Paul Lopez lured Garcia to the site of the murder, where one of them shot him before they loaded his body in his own car and set it ablaze near Lamb Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue.

Macias and Paul Lopez also are accused of taking Garcia's wallet and cell phone during the incident, according to the indictment.

Macias was booked in the Clark County Detention Center on Jan. 21 and is being held without bail. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 16.

Officials from the District Attorney's Office said an arrest warrant has been issued for Paul Lopez.
