High to reach low 60s in Las Vegas Valley

Warmer temperatures continue through weekend, forecasters say

Consider it an early Valentine — mostly sunny skies and temperatures climbing into the upper 60s are heading to the Las Vegas Valley this weekend.

Temperatures will climb today into the upper 50s and even low 60s for the Las Vegas Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

Breezy conditions will remain down the Colorado River Valley today, with light winds elsewhere across the area, the weather service said.

High pressure continues to build in over the region bringing mostly sunny conditions with temperatures returning to normal levels in the mid 60s by this weekend, forecasters said.

Monday, Valentine's Day will be even warmer, climbing into the low 70s, they said.

At 4:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 40 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 41 degrees. The record low was 19 degrees, set in 1946 and 1937.

Around the valley just before 5 a.m., temperatures were 34 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 33 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 35 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 39 degrees by 9 a.m., to 40 degrees by noon and reach a high of 61 degrees by 4 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 62 degrees and the record high was 74 degrees, set in 1951.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 55 degrees by 6 p.m., to 51 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 46 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Friday's morning low will be 40 degrees and Friday's high will climb to 67 degrees, they said.
