Giunchigliani releases first video in Las Vegas mayoral race

Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani has released the first video in the race for Las Vegas mayor.

The spot, which introduces Giunchigliani to voters and pokes fun at her difficult-to-pronounce last name, went live today. It appears on Giunchigliani's website and was posted to several social media sites.

The ad features people of various ages and races struggling to pronounce Giunchigliani's name. An older couple botches it. A Hispanic man tries it in Spanish. Several children get it right, but their parents struggle. Finally, an opera singer belts it out - correctly - as the video closes.

"I'm Chris Giunchigliani, and I'm proud to live in Las Vegas," the candidate says, smiling.

Giunchigliani also outlines some of her goals for the city, which include supporting existing businesses and attracting new ones, revitalizing neighborhoods and improving schools.

"I'm running to help make Las Vegas a better place to live," she says.

Giunchigliani mailers also began arriving in Las Vegas mailboxes today. The flyers are headlined "Family Matters" and show a history of Giunchigliani through black and white photos.

Mayoral candidate and first lady Carolyn Goodman on Thursday released a radio spot advertising her official campaign kickoff, which is tonight.
