A missing Las Vegas man who had been the subject of a search by family members and police this past week was found dead Friday evening, police said.

Michael Angelo Jr., 46, was last seen Sunday afternoon in the area of Silverado Ranch Boulevard and Eastern Avenue. His body was found early Friday evening outside his truck in the desert near Jean, about 14 miles south of the edge of the Las Vegas Valley, Metro Police spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said.

Police do not believe the death was a homicide, but it will be up to the coroner’s office to determine the cause and manner of death, Morgan said.

A family spokeswoman announced the death early Saturday, but said the family was not ready to offer any other information. The family had been planning to pass out missing person fliers today near where Angelo was last seen.

Police had released details earlier in the week about Angelo and his pickup truck in the hopes the public would be able to find him.

Officials did not release any other information about the circumstances surrounding Angelo’s death or how he was found.
