A fire caused about $55,000 in damage to a Henderson home on Monday near Burkholder and Pueblo boulevards, fire officials said.

Investigators said the fire at 852 Wintersweet Road was accidental, caused by a plumber sweating copper pipes.

The homeowner discovered the fire in the garage after smelling smoke, officials said. The Henderson Fire Department responded at 9:25 a.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke coming from the two-story home. Crews brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes.

The homeowner escaped unharmed and no one was injured.

Officials said the home sustained extensive damage and displaced the woman living there. The American Red Cross was assisting her.
