Finally! Mexico’s Victoria beer reaches Las Vegas

Victoria beer

Victoria beer: now available in Las Vegas in the six-, 12- or 24-pack!

It’s taken 145 years, but Victoria beer has finally crossed the border. The Vienna-style lager popular in Mexico has been launching in the U.S. slowly, starting with Chicago last summer, then expanding into Denver, Dallas and a few other markets. On February 14, Victoria made its boldest move to date: a westward expansion that included LA, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and yes, Las Vegas.

Brewed for the first time in 1865, Victoria was bought by Mexican beer giant Grupo Modelo in 1935, which also produces crossover favorites like Modelo, Corona and Pacifico. The amber-hued lager hits the spot on a hot day and seems to have gone over well in Chicago, a city that won the beer’s debut for its large Mexican community and thriving beer culture. You can sample Victoria, now available in Vegas, by the six-, 12- or 24-pack, but for a taste of the brew out of a classic caguama—a 32-ounce bottle whose name also refers to a large turtle—you’ll just have to make the trip to Mexico.
