A woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of driving under the influence after she struck a fourth-grade student with her car, police said.
The woman struck the student just before 4 p.m. at Kit Carson Elementary, 1735 D St.
Police said the boy was taken to University Medical Center, but didn't suffer any serious injuries. The woman will be booked into the Clark County Detention Center in connection with driving under the influence of prescription drugs, police said.
Police said the boy’s parents became hostile with the driver. School staff then locked the woman inside the school until police arrived.
