Police searching for suspect in Pahrump bank robbery

Police have identified the suspect in the Feb. 11 robbery of a US Bank in Pahrump as Charles Leighton Jr. and say a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

The Nye County Sheriff’s Office has identified a suspect in the robbery of a US Bank on Feb. 11 in Pahrump as Charles Leighton Jr. of Pahrump. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, authorities said.

Sheriff’s officials said a man entered a Smith’s grocery store on State Road 160 in Pahrump and passed a note to an in-store bank teller demanding money. He made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The sheriff’s office says Leighton is about 5 feet 7 inches tall, 200 pounds and has shoulder-length blond hair and blue eyes. He is believed to be driving a 1995 Ford Sedan with the license plate 492SYJ.

Police say Leighton has ties to Pahrump, Las Vegas and California, but they do not know where he is now.
