New traffic light in western Las Vegas neighborhood

Median project

Residents at the western edge of Las Vegas may notice a new traffic signal in use this week.

The signal is at the main intersection for the residential area west of Lone Mountain Park, at the intersection of Cliff Shadows Parkway and Alexander Road, west of the Las Vegas Beltway between Cheyenne Avenue and Lone Mountain Road.

City crews will set the signal to flash red on Tuesday to warn motorists that it will be on soon. The light will be placed on a full red, green and yellow operation Wednesday.

City Councilman Stavros S. Anthony is expected to turn the signal on 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The intersection serves about 12,000 vehicles per day, city officials said.
