Updated Monday, Feb. 21, 2011 | 5:17 p.m.

A 68-year-old woman died Monday after suffering a medical episode while off-roading on an all-terrain vehicle in the desert, authorities said.

Police said the woman was off-roading with her son near Las Vegas Boulevard and Apex Drive in the desert north of Nellis Air Force Base. Officials said she stopped the ATV, and when her son went to check on her, she collapsed and fell off the ATV.

Police said her son tried to give her CPR, but she was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency officials.

The name of the woman will be released by the coroner. Police had initially reported she was riding with her husband and had fallen off the ATV, but authorities released updated information later in the afternoon.
